Class Guidelines
Missing a Class & Scheduling a Make-Up
If you miss a scheduled class, you may schedule a make-up through the Make-Up Scheduler. If you know you will be absent, please mark yourself absent in advance so another family can use the space for a make-up. Classes are intentionally small and limited to 12 families, so opening your spot helps others attend.
How We Share the Classroom
Food, Drinks, & Toys
To keep the focus on music and avoid spills or distractions, please leave food, drinks, and toys outside the classroom during class.
Phones & Cameras
We try to create an environment where the music has everyone’s attention. Please silence phones and keep them put away during class. Photos and video are not allowed during class.
Let Children Move Freely
Young children experience music through movement. If your child is old enough to move independently, please allow them to explore rather than guiding their arms or keeping them on your lap.
Sing With Us
Adults are an essential part of the class. When parents and caregivers sing, move, and play along, children experience music as something they belong inside.
Caregivers
Nannies and au pairs are very welcome in class and are important role models for the children. Please help them understand how much their participation matters and share these guidelines with them.
Health & Safety
When to Stay Home
If your child has had a fever (100° or higher) or vomiting within the previous 24 hours, please stay home and schedule a make-up. Please also use common sense with communicable illness.
Moving Safely
Children naturally move during music class, and that energy is part of the experience. To help keep everyone safe while instruments are being passed around, we ask that children not run in the classroom.
Extra Family Members
Extra Adults
Additional adult family members are always welcome. Music-making works best when the whole family feels comfortable participating.
Extra Children
Older siblings are welcome free of charge on DCPS school holidays.
Occasional visiting children (such as cousins or friends) are welcome with advance approval, provided the class has space.
If you would like an additional child to attend regularly, please contact Mike in advance. Because class sizes are limited, the fee for an additional enrolled child is $35 per class.
Everyone in the room participates in the music, so we ask families to check ahead before bringing extra children so we can be sure the class has room.
Switching Classes
Occasionally schedules or friendships make a different class time a better fit. If you would like help switching classes, please speak with the center director.
Inclement Weather
If a class must be canceled due to weather, notice will be posted on the homepage and calendar page of this website.
Because most families walk to class, classes are rarely canceled. If conditions make it unsafe for your family to attend, please make the decision that feels safest and schedule a make-up.

We love Mr. Steve!! He is an amazing music teacher for little ones. So kind, and very skilled at providing a high-quality, tailored music experience. My son loves it and looks forward to class every week!
