babies class
(not yet crawling fast)
This class is designed especially for families with very young babies — from newborn through the early months before confident crawling begins.
At this stage, babies experience music primarily through listening, movement, and connection with the adults who care for them. During class, parents sing, sway, and move with their babies while simple songs and rhythms fill the room.
Babies often respond in quiet ways: turning toward a voice, moving their arms and legs, or settling into the rhythm of a song.
These early experiences help build the foundation for musical development long before children begin to sing or move on their own.
A Class for Parents, Too
For many families, this class becomes a gentle introduction to the Music Together experience. Parents learn songs they can sing at home, discover new ways to interact musically with their baby, and connect with other families who are in the same early stage of parenting.
When babies begin crawling confidently, most families naturally move into our Mixed-Age classes, where children continue exploring music alongside toddlers and preschoolers while adults remain active participants in the circle.
Because this class is designed specifically for very young infants, older siblings do not attend these sessions.
We’ve been going to the Mr. Mike’s Music classes at Hill Center for nearly a year and a half since our baby was three months old, and absolutely love it. Most of the semesters we’ve done have been with Ms. Deb, and I can’t speak highly enough of her. She’s so engaging and not only teaches the kids music but teaches the parents — even non-musically inclined ones — easy and fun ways to teach at home, too. Our now-toddler has gotten so much out of these and we’re really grateful to have this program in our neighborhood.
